TERMS OF BUSINESS
1. General Principles
These terms apply to all services provided to Silk Words by the Freelance Collaborator (the "Linguist"). By accepting a Purchase Order or assignment via email, the Linguist agrees to be bound by these terms.
2. Quality and Delivery
Standards: All translations must be accurate, stylistically appropriate for the target audience (e.g., UK Fashion/Luxury), and free of grammatical errors.
Deadlines: Time is of the essence. If a delay is anticipated, the Linguist must notify Silk Words immediately.
Tools: The Linguist agrees to use the agreed-upon CAT tools (e.g., MemoQ) and follow any provided style guides or glossaries.
3. Intellectual Property (IP)
Transfer of Rights: Upon payment of the agreed fee, all Intellectual Property rights, including copyright in the translated material, are transferred exclusively to Silk Words (and subsequently to the end client).
Moral Rights: The Linguist waives any moral rights to be identified as the author of the translation, as is standard in commercial fashion translation.
4. Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure
Strict Privacy: All source materials, client names, brand strategies, and internal Silk Words processes are strictly confidential.
Non-Use: The Linguist shall not use any confidential information for their own benefit or disclose it to any third party without written consent.
Data Protection: The Linguist agrees to handle all personal data in compliance with UK GDPR.
5. Payment Terms
Invoicing: Invoices should be submitted upon successful completion of the project.
Payment Window: Silk Words will process payments within 30 days of receipt of a valid invoice, unless otherwise agreed in writing for a specific project.
Currency: Payments will be made in the currency specified in the assignment email (e.g., GBP or EUR).
6. Liability and Corrections
Errors: If a translation does not meet the agreed quality standards, Silk Words reserves the right to ask for corrections at no additional cost.
Indemnity: The Linguist is responsible for ensuring their work does not infringe on any third-party rights.
